Transportation & Parking
The Office of Transportation & Parking oversees transportation and parking needs for the campus community.
Services include the Friar Nite Shuttle and the Shopping Shuttle; van and shuttle service to and from off-campus events, programs, and neighborhood locations; and airport shuttle services during campus breaks. If you have any questions, please visit the Transportation Services MyPC website.
- RIPTA – All Providence College students can ride the RIPTA free of charge with their PC ID. The RIPTA Route 55/Admiral bus route has a stop on the Providence College campus.
- MBTA (The easiest way to travel to Boston is via the MBTA commuter rail train to South Station)

Campus Parking Information
The Office of Transportation & Parking manages all Providence College parking activities and enforcement of rules and regulations. Parking on campus is limited, in high demand, and is strictly regulated in an effort to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and provide pedestrian safety. All vehicles on campus are required to have a parking permit displayed.
Parking and operating a motor vehicle on the Providence College campus is a privilege, not a right, and constitutes acceptance by the individual of the responsibility to ensure that his or her vehicle is neither parked nor operated in violation of any of the College regulations.
A parking permit allows for parking on campus but does not guarantee a parking space. The College assumes no responsibility for theft or damage to a vehicle while on campus. Parking for undergraduate students living in on-campus housing is available only to juniors and seniors.

Parking Regulations
Parking Tickets
Parking citations are classified as major or minor infractions. Both categories carry citations ranging from $10.00 to $50.00. A vehicle immobilization or “boot” violation is $100.00.
Ticket Payments or Disputes
Payments must be made electronically at Transact Campus utilizing your bank routing information. Violations may be contested within 10 days of issuance at the Office of Public Safety, Monday through Friday 1:00pm to 3:00pm or 6:00pm to 8:00pm. After 10 days, any unpaid citations will result in a security hold.
“Booting” & Towing
All illegally parked vehicles are subject to being “booted” or towed. Providence College is not responsible for damage to a vehicle during towing and storage. Vehicles parked on campus or on College owned property may be “booted” or towed at the owner’s expense when:
- Vehicle is blocking the flow of traffic, causing a hazard.
- Vehicle is parked in a handicapped zone or fire lane.
- Vehicle is in violation of RI motor laws.
- Vehicle has (3) outstanding parking infractions.
- Vehicle is not authorized for campus parking.
Snow Emergencies
Due to inclement weather, students and faculty/staff are advised to call the weather line at 401.865.1012 for information regarding school closings and class cancellations or check the Inclement Weather page. In the event of a snow emergency, vehicles need to be moved and students and faculty/staff must listen to the snow line instructions in order to know when plowing will be conducted in each parking lot.
